About d2m

about d2m in the bay areaAfter years of experience in graphic arts, print media and multimedia we turned our minds to Website design. d2m was conceived in 1995 when the WWW was very young. There was no wysiwyg back then. No Flash, no YouTube or Twitter, just designers and programmers trying to figure out html coding. It was fun. And it grew. And it's still growing!

Armed with new Macintoshes and old PCs we pushed forward. In the old days you needed to convince people and companies of the need for a Web presence. "We don't need no stinking Websites!" Smart clients agreed that they could be a step ahead with an informative Website. We developed "online" brochures to complement the print media pieces that were ever so popular. New clients realized the need to keep up with competitors by launching their business presence on the Web. Small percentages of yearly budgets were allotted for Web design. Quickly, the allocation grew.

As time went on we were developing more dynamic interfaces. We built Web stores with ecommerce, credit transactions and customer relationship management. Not only could you display your product or service, now you could actually sell it! You could collect and store information, images, and update your own Website to your heart's delight.

Then came Google and Ebay, FLASH and iTunes. Social media sites like MySpace, Facebook and YouTube enabled even greater Web interaction. We kept our noses to the grindstone and worked to stay up-to-date with the trends and technology. XHTML, MySQL, PHP, Ruby on Rails, Python, JAVA, Joomla, SOS and the list keeps growing.

Everyday something new and wonderful comes along, that we need to learn, and we enjoy it!

– David Rose, President, d2m interactive

"I have a dream for the Web [in which computers] become capable of analyzing all the data on the Web – the content, links, and transactions between people and computers. A ‘Semantic Web’, which should make this possible, has yet to emerge, but when it does, the day-to-day mechanisms of trade, bureaucracy and our daily lives will be handled by machines talking to machines. The ‘intelligent agents’ people have touted for ages will finally materialize."
– Tim Berners-Lee, 1999
